The Anti Nowhere League set out on the road in 1980 to prove they could be the worst band on Gods earth. Loud, violent, obnoxious yobbo’s with one mission... to get banned from as many TV shows, radio stations and newspapers as possible. Hated by the general public, the music business and 'real' musicians and despite numerous encounters with the police and the authorities (the band were arrested at their very first gig and suffered stock seizure of their first single under the Obscene Publications Act), they continued-on regardless satisfying their devoted following with their granny worrying singles and albums. Eventually disbanding in 1987 but reuniting a year later for a packed one-off show in their native Royal Tunbridge Wells, the ANWL would reform permanently in 1992. Currently hard at it to this day and thanks to Metallica covering the track ‘So What?’ on their single ‘Sad But True’, have been kept in beer money ever since. Long live the League!
