FOR THE WORSE is the latest group of ôMassholesö intent on destroying everything in their path by playing serious raging hardcore punk. Psycho Mike McCarthy of 7"-backcover- photo fame is back and bloodier than usual. From the first crunching beats of Blood, Guts, Going Nuts to THE FREEZE cover at the end, this CD is as relentlessly brutal as hardcore should be. Not just that, but like any recording of this length, the tone changes once in a while to keep your attention. There's some shit humor, nostalgia, and the kind of every day anger we can all relate to. Goddamn, if you remember motherfuckers like A POOR EXCUSE, LAST IN LINE and FIT FOR ABUSE, you are in for a treat. FOR THE WORSE plays punk rock with a serious set of balls- and the lyrics are the best part. Morrissey? Dissed. 16-year-old anarchists? Pipebombed. Fluffy, pointless punk rock? Chainsawed. The best part of this record is the fact that Mike McCarthy's insane vocals got even more twisted. If you think John Joseph sounds like he's on the edge, check out FOR THE WORSE. Your mind will melt. Blood, Guts, Going Nuts is another feather in the cap of Mike McCarthy & Co. and a definite tribute to the Massachusetts heavyweights who preceeded them.
